THE NEXT SBPT VISIT FOR LIFE, ASSOCIATE AND CORPORATE MEMBERS WILL BE TO NORWOOD PARK FARM (GRADE II*) AND THE FARMSTEAD (GRADE II*) .
We are very grateful to the owners of these two properties for allowing us to visit their houses in June. More about the visits after they have taken plce.
SBPT AGM This will be held on Friday 24th October 2008. Details to follow.
CASTLE HOUSE (GRADE I), TAUNTON CASTLE The owners of the House, the Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society and the Somerset County Council who have a lease on the building, have asked the SBPT to project manage the restoration of Castle House at Taunton Castle. Plans are in hand for a grant from the Architectural Heritage Fund to be sought so that an Options Appraisal may be undertaken on the property.
The house, which is part in the curtain wall of the Castle is as wonderful building but in urgent need of restoration.

The Friends of Somerset Archives A main objective of this organisation is tro support the Archive Offices of the County in providing funds to purchase documents for the use of the general public for research. Full details are available on the Somerset Archive and Record Office Website. You may like to attend one of the organisation's events to be held on Saturday 13th September 2008 at 7.00 pm at the Wellsprings Leisure Centre, Taunton, when Mr Tom Mayberry, Lecturer and Historian will be speaking on "Discovering Somerset's History" and Dr Nick Barratt, a Family History Consultant will be asking "Who Do You Think You Are?". Tickets are £10 and include a glass of wine and chesse and are available from Anne Leamon, Mobile 07775 563251.
