How to become a Member

You can enjoy becoming a member of the SBPT by completing an application form, which you can down load by clicking at the foot of this page,  It is only £10 a year - or £80 for Life membership.

Three, and sometimes more, times a year, members have the chance to visit historic buildings that are not generally open to the public.  These buildings are normally in Somerset but, sometimes, we "venture" into neighbouring counties.  After our tours everyone indulges themselves in a delicious tea - this is the spoiling ourselves bit!  The visits take place in late Spring, the Summer and in the late Autumn.  The latter coincides with the Trust's Annual General Meeting, to which all members are welcome.  On that occasion we forego tea for a good buffet lunch.  Normally a small charge is made to cover entrance fees, food etc.

In 2011, during Heritage Open Days, we had a preview visit of our current restoration project - Castle House (Grade 1 listed), Taunton plus a private view of the recently restored Taunton Castle which houses the magnificent  Museum of Somerset.  (See more about our Castle House project under "Restorations".)     On a lovely Spring day we visited two SBPT/William Stansell Awards winners - Stapleton Farmhouse and the Market House, both in Martock and excellent restorations.  We later visited the Church in Martock and enjoyed a scrumptious WI tea!   In the Summer we went up to the National Trust's Tyntesfield House, near Bristol, to see the recently restored Engine House now converted into a first class learning centre and then on to a beautifully restored Nailsea Tithe Barn.  Our year ended with the AGM being held in the Clifford Hall at Cannington.  A tour of the gardens followed and then we all went up to the Landmark Trust's delightful Gurney Manor used for their historic buildings holiday lets.
